In Daniel 1, Daniel and his friends basically tell the stingy ruler, Nebuchadnezzar, "We're fasting and only eating vegetables", to avoid being indebted to him and possibly being persuaded into transgressing the Law. Not only that, but Nebuchadnezzar later became a Believer in God, so he's a true spiritual (not ethnic) Jew because his heart has been circumcised.
